Assisting a loved one with a developmental disability can often come with additional expenses. Therapies, assistive equipment, social programs and more can place additional financial strains on families. The Arc of Northern Shenandoah Valley is pleased to offer up to $500 per year in financial assistance for our friends with developmental disabilities.
A person is eligible for financial assistance if the following are met:
Reside in the City of Winchester or the Counties of Clarke, Frederick or Shenandoah; and
WHAT CAN SCHOLARSHIPS BE USED FOR?
Scholarships may be used for any of the following:
Assistive technology, such as an iPad for communication;
Sensory equipment, such as a trampoline, weighted vest, swing, tumbling mat, weighted blanket, adaptive clothing and more;
Educational opportunities for adults, such as continuing education or specialized training for employment;
Emergency assistance for rent, utilities or clothing; and
Housing deposits for individuals moving into their own apartments from group homes or institutions.
Other assistance may be considered in emergency situations.
