Advocacy Supports

Through The Arc of Northern Shenandoah Valley's Advocacy Program, families are supported by:

  • Receiving resources and referrals

  • Development of advocacy and empowerment skills;

  • Problem-solving; and

  • Education on relevant laws, policies, programs and practices that improve the lives of our friends with developmental disabilities.

Eligibility

Our advocacy services are provided to anyone with an intellectual or developmental disability, with our primary focus serving families in Winchester City, as well as Frederick, Clarke and Shenandoah counties. Our advocacy services are unique to each family we serve, as no two families will require the same services and supports.

Fees

Advocacy services are provided at no cost to families.

Limitations

The Arc of Northern Shenandoah Valley is not a legal service and does not provide legal advice. Additionally, we do not offer in-person advocacy at Individual Educational Program meetings or Dispute Resolution sessions.
