Who We Are
Do you know someone who has Autism? How about Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy or a Developmental Delay? These are just a few of the hundreds of developmental disabilities served by chapters of The Arc.
The Arc of Northern Shenandoah Valley serves as a voice for individuals and families, working through various channels to create "A Life Like Yours" for all Virginians with developmental disabilities.
The core component of our work is advocacy. We work with families on an individual basis to identify their needs and determine what services and supports are best suited to their families. We strive to provide comprehensive information in a variety of avenues, including webinars, podcasts, quick guides, individual consultations and more. In addition to local and individual advocacy, we speak on behalf of all Virginians with developmental disabilities on issues including heath care, community integration and inclusion, special education and other issues.
