Reflexology foot massage is said to provide numerous health benefits to a person. The vital organs in a person’s body is said to be connected to reflex zones or pressure points located in the foot of a person. Although a quick reference to a reflexology hand chart will show that these vital organs are also linked to reflex zones found in the hands, a number of vital organs respond more to a foot massage than a hand massage.
To help you learn the basics of reflexology foot massage, here are some helpful pointers;
Always do the massage with clean hands and a properly trimmed finger nails.
Firmly hold or press the feet. A person’s foot is very sensitive to light touches that can cause a tickling sensation to a person. To avoid such, make sure to avoid brushing lightly or lightly touching the foot.
Remember that there are certain parts of the foot that requires only soft massage and there are those that only respond to hard massage. Find out what areas should be giver softer massage and the areas that must be massaged with heavier pressure.
Start the massage from the ankle downwards. Massaging the ankle prepares the whole foot for the reflexology foot massage.
To determine which parts of the foot to massage, always consult a reflexology foot chart. This chart contains the different reflex zones located in a person’s foot. In order to make a reflexology foot massage a success, make sure that all the reflex zones are covered and much attention is given to the reflex zone linked to the illness or health problem of the patient.
