Welcome!
The Arc of Northern Shenandoah Valley is a membership organization of individuals and the families and professionals who support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD).
The organization was established December 7, 1967 - as the deinstitutionalization movement was gaining momentum - for the purpose of addressing issues of school exclusion and lack of community resources for individuals with mental disabilities.
It has continued, since its inception, to maintain a mission to improve the quality of life for persons with ID/DD by supporting families where no formal supports have existed and by organizing efforts to fill service gaps in the northern Shenandoah Valley.
The Arc/NSV serves adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities as landlord and steward of 3 apartments on Forrest Drive in Winchester.
